Mountain Goats Save Tourists from Grizzly Bear Attack in Glacier National Park
A group of mountain goats saved tourists from a grizzly bear in Glacier National Park in the Rocky Mountains in the USA, as reported by Unofficial Networks. Tourist Peter Donahue went on a solo hike in the national park. Just as he descended from the hill, he saw people running towards him. About 15 tourists were running towards him, with a large grizzly bear chasing them from about 15 meters away, apparently pursuing the people, according to BGNES.
Donahue returned to the top of the hill with the others, where they all stopped and turned to face the predator. Together with another man, they took out bear spray and prepared to defend themselves. The animal stopped running and slowly started approaching the tourists. However, at the last moment, it noticed a herd of mountain goats nearby. The predator turned towards the herd, and thanks to the goats, the tourists were saved from a potential attack.
„This is perhaps the most terrifying experience I have ever had. This big beast chased me and a group of 15 other tourists along the trail for five minutes at a furious speed before running off after the goats. I was lucky to stay alive,“ said Peter Donahue.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident, even though the tourists violated the rules of bear encounter behavior, which state that one should not run from the predator.
